Preparation For Pan-American Championships

If your on the competition right now and your looking to go to an international tournament such as Pan-Ams or worlds this year right now you should be competing as much as possible. You need to get as much tournament preparation in before these big types of competition, and you don’t want to go in under-prepared and make mistakes that you could’ve made in less important tournaments.
We look forward to taking as much competitors as possible to Pam-Ams this April to go over there and decimate the competition taking home golds for all of our competitors. That way we can complete Roberto Torralbas goal of International titles this year and gain more and more knowledge about what works best for us at the competitive level.
Pan-Ams and Worlds are two of the most prestigious tournaments to win in the United States. Anyone who is anyone in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu comes out to California to compete there and we at Team Third Law look forward to the competition this year and can’t wait for the future. Anaconda Choke
In combat gold stated in a previous post, we have a separate curriculum of techniques that we are teaching. We drill them over and over, then at the beginning of the next month we are tested on all of the techniques making sure that we know all of them to the point. I love this system because it’s forcing our Jiu Jitsu gameplans to grow more and more, the more techniques we are learning the more we are forced to retain and be tested on.
There is nothing better then being able to learn a whole new series of techniques to add to your game-plan that you can start using at the competition level. Not only this but as well as finding out what techniques you were struggling with when it came to the test and which need the most work. Having a seperate ciriculium for combat gold is in place because they are the top of the top that train at Team Third Law the students that are the most dedicated, want to train the hardest, and learn as fast as possible.
If you think your ready to start training in a Team atomsphere that treaches you a detailed ciriculium, with series of attacks about certain positions until you master the position then this school is the place for you. Not only will you learn more in one day then most people that train are able to learn in an entire week but you will be able to retain this information because you want to get a good grade on your test.

Bread Cutter Choke

The Bread Cutter Choke
This move along with many others will be things that the people in the combat gold program at Team Third Law will be tested on at the end of this month. Not only this choke but other moves such as all of the brabo chokes, and other small errors that Roberto Torralbas the head instructor has seen us making at the tournament level.
The bread cutter choke is not only a super effective choke, but probably one of the safest and hardest submissions to stop from the north south position. Because once in the north south position the persons elbows usually open up when they try to bridge and shrimp. This is the perfect opportunity to sink your hand underneath their arm and grab with a collar grip.

Jiu Jitsu & Traveling

Traveling is one of the best parts about Jiu Jitsu, because when start to get more involved with the sport such as competing and going to international level tournaments you have to travel to get to these places. Which for me is a great aspect of the sport because not only do you get to compete and challenge yourself up again top competition but you get to travel around the world seeing places that you would not normally go to depending on if you choose to do Jiu Jitsu or not. So not only do you get to travel with Jiu Jitsu but you get to to travel with your teammates.
We really look forward to going to competitions in places like Brazil & throughout the United States such as California because not only do you get to do a sport that is going to allow you test yourself on a daily basis in the classroom training hard but against people that you have never met before. Jiu Jitsu is going to open up many opportunities in your life that you may not have thought of in the past. Simply because you didn’t think they were possible or goals that you thought were unattainable.
All of the goals that you wanted to achieve, are possible and your teammates at Team Third Law are going to guide you on the path that will take you where you need to go to achieve these goals. Maybe your goal was to travel around the world competition, well we already have competitors that are doing this and taking advantage of the fact that Jiu Jitsu is allowing them to do these things. Test Day !

Closed Guard
Today is that day again at Team Third Law, where we test our students on their knowledge of the closed guard techniques we have taught them this entire month. Not only will this test determine what techniques they need to work on but will prepare them for next months ciriculium.
The Testing at Team Third Law is not a standardized test or something of that nature it is simply a test of how well you know the techniques that are being taught and understand all of the little details involved. The test this month is going to be on the closed guard curriculum and since last months test was Gi, this months test will be in the No-Gi.
Our students at Team Third Law, take the test seriously and really want to do their best on the test because it will determine how well they are retaining the technique and which techniques really need the most work. So it is super important that you come to test day and do your best to get A’s lasts months average was a B plus so lets shoot for an A average this month.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu For Women

As you can tell from this video the women’s program is growing to big numbers and that is simply because of how we have the best team environment in the Southwest Florida are for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Muay Thai – KickBoxing. We teach these two main martial arts because we want our students to be complete fighters on the feet and on the ground as well and never make them feel limited in their abilities.
For women Jiu Jitsu is a fantastic martial art that is going to teach you how to defend yourself if someone takes you down and is say for example on top of you trying to hurt you, with Jiu Jitsu you learn how to get the person off of you get to a better position and control the person from that position. This is by far the most important thing for a woman to learn to be able to defend herself. Without learning this she can become very defenseless.
Not only does the women’s program teach great self defense it is a martial art that will get you into the best shape of your life. You need to come into Team Third Law to train hard, learn some self-defense train with the best instructors for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai & Kickboxing in the South West Florida area.

Tournament Results!
Feb 28th
Team Third Law tore it up at the tournament today in orlando at the Forida BJJ Classic. We took up 8 competitors to the competition and came back with 7 medals. Jake Huffman and Orlando Castillo closing out the division. Joey Ruggiero getting 1st place in his division, and Roberto torralbas the head instructor at Team Third Law closing out both if his divisions.
Make sure that you are a subscriber to the channel Team Third Law on YouTube and you’ll find highlights from this tournament and pass tournament results. We had great results at this tournament and past tournaments especially with competitors who are competing for the first time.
You will see from the videos that our students are doing really great things at competitions and destroying the opposition. All of these competitors that are doing well at competition had no previous experience at competition or even with Jiu Jitsu at that point in time. Women’s Program

Yvvone Williams, someone that came in with no experience in Jiu Jitsu and now is in the women’s program beating guys in class that are much stronger than her. The women’s program is a great way to get into martial arts and being able to defend yourself from attackers that are much bigger than you. Not only is this program going to get you in the best shape of your life but your going to make so many new friends in this school.
The team environment that we have at Team Third Law is second to none, Because not only is this a school that has a woemens only class so that women can train and learn the best self-defense that is going to allow you to defend yourself without having to think about what your doing.
Women especially need to learn an effective form of self-defense, to defend themselves, and what a more important martial art to learn then when someone is on top of you in a ground fighting situation and you need to get them off you. With Jiu Jitsu you learn how to be effective from fighting on your back and escapes to get out to get better positions.

Combat Gold & New Techniques

In Combat Gold the advanced program at Team Third Law, we have been working on a back of the tricep grip in the closed guard and all of the attacks from there. Not only is this grip pretty unstoppable if you understand to never let go of the grip, and when you do the technique fails. If you follow the main principle of holding the back of the arm and moving your hips around the person looking for sweeps, submissions, and never let the grip on the back of the arm be broken you can use this move very effectively
The combat gold program is the advanced program at Team Third Law for the students at the school that are most dedicated to the team. No one is going to be able to stop you with the new things we are teaching in combat gold. The series of attacks that it opens up is insane. Just from a certain type of grip that you can get on the person can control the entire situation that you in and end the fight quick. The reason why their is a picutre of Wilson Reis is because soon in combat gold we will be working on his guard pass that he has been super effective with and unlock the secrets of his pass.
Combat gold once again is the program for our most advanced students and we don’t play around in the class. Its a class for hardworking individuals that want to get better at Jiu Jitsu and are dedicated the the martial art. Not only is this a program for the most dedicated but the up-comers at the school.
