This past Saturday, November 21, 2009 Team Third BJJ of Naples FL, participated in the NAGA FLORIDA GRAPPLING CHAMPIOSNHIP at Boca Raton, FL.

In a day full of activity and crazy moments Team Third BJJ of Naples FL had a total of 25 wins and 13 losses for a total of 35 matches and a 68% win ratio. We are currently planning of starting a system for keeping team statistics, as we all know measuring is a key tool for success. The team took also 7 Medals (3 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze).

The day started with Kim Rivers, submitting her first opponent within 30 seconds as the video below illustrates. Kim ended up taking silver in the beginner division and gold in the white belt division, after a very controversial ending. Kim Rivers ahs had a total of 7 matches and a record of 6-1 with 4 submissions!

Joey Ruggiero did a great job of keeping his pace and control and ended up submitting 3, out of 4 opponents for the win.

Chris Ocampo took silver after a very tough match in the finals. Keep your eyes open for him as he has been training hard and is sure to take the divisions by storm pretty soon.
John Dysert also did an amazing job. Defeating some important rivals and achieving bronze in the intermediate division and winning the adult blue belt division.
Orlando Castillo has only been training 5 months and there where talks that he was already a blue belt. Crazy Talk that’s for sure but it didn’t help he submitted his first two opponents fairly quick. Orlando went 4-1 for the day and took bronze, but was close to finish his semifinal match until he was stalled out by his opponent.

Kevin Dalton
had a very good performance dropping down from masters to adult blue and intermediate division Kevin won 2 matches and lost two close matches!
